APDIM to open office in Tehran on Tuesday
TEHRAN - Hamid Pourmohammadi, the deputy head of the Iranian Planning and Budget Organization, said on Monday that the Asian and Pacific Centre for the Development of Disaster Information Management (APDIM) is scheduled to open an office in Tehran on Tuesday.
“Based on the decision made by the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) and Iran’s Planning and Budget Organization, preparations to open the office of the Asian and Pacific Centre for the Development of Disaster Information Management (APDIM) in Tehran has been made,” Pourmohammadi said.
He added ESCAP executive secretary Shamshad Akhtar and Iranian Budget and Planning Organization chief Mohammad Bagher Nobakht are scheduled to attend the opening ceremony.
Pourmohammadi noted that the opening of APDIM office in Tehran is aimed at reducing possible death, damage, or other negative consequences from natural disasters.
He also said that the board of governors of the Development of Disaster Information Management plans to hold their second session on January 30 and 31.
“Natural disasters especially earthquake and dust storms will be put on agenda,” he added.
The first session of APDIM was held in November 2016 in New Delhi.
